As a housing association, we’re responsible for arranging building insurance for the homes we manage.

  • If you are a shared owner or leaseholder your building insurance will be paid for through your service charge.
  • If you are a tenant or rent a home from us, as your landlord, we will arrange your building insurance

Home contents insurance

We don't insure the contents in your home so it's important you take steps to protect your personal belongings.

Building insurance arranged by A2Dominion for the homes we manage

What is covered?

Your home (but not your belongings) is covered for damage caused by major accidents or disasters such as:

  • Fire and lightning
  • Explosions and earthquakes
  • Impacts (such as from an aircraft)
  • Riots, civil commotions and malicious acts
  • Theft
  • Storms, flooding and overflowing water tanks and pipes
  • Oil escaping from fixed heating installations
  • Subsidence, landslips and heave (unless they've been caused by the sea or a river eroding the land)
  • Damage caused to the building by water leaks from washing machines and other appliances is covered by the buildings insurance policy, but the cost to repair leaks isn’t.

What's not covered?

You aren't covered for damage caused by:

  • Wear and tear
  • Wet or dry rot, rust or corrosion
  • Vermin, insects, damp or mildew
  • Storms or flood damage to hedges, patios, paths and rivers
  • Collapses from faulty design, workmanship or materials
  • Pressure from waves from aircraft travelling at or above the speed of sound
  • Contamination by radioactivity
  • Wars or acts of terrorism
