We’re responsible for making sure your home is safe and fit to live in.

We’ve partnered with 2 contractors, PFL Electrical and The Wiggett Group, who will carry out the electrical safety checks in your home, at least every 5 years, on our behalf. This is part of our ongoing commitment to keep you safe.

How will I know if my safety check is due?

You’ll receive a letter from our contractors, PFL Electrical or The Wiggett Group, who are writing to all our customers to introduce themselves. They’ll be in touch with you directly to arrange an appointment.

What is tested during a check?

Examples of items we’ll check in your home include:

  • wiring
  • plug sockets
  • light fittings
  • fuse boxes
  • electric showers
  • extractor fans

We’ll also check:

  • potential electrical shock risks
  • electrical fire hazards
  • electrical circuits and equipment are not overloaded

We may also book in another appointment to carry out any further repairs needed. Please be reassured that if there are any serious urgent hazards in your home, we’ll make them safe before we leave.

How you can help:

There are things that you can do that can help us.

  • report electrical faults as soon as you spot a problem
  • allow access for repairs and safety inspections
  • make sure your own appliances are safe, for example, kettles and hairdryers
  • don’t overload power circuits with multiple extension cables
  • you can carry out a visual safety check but don't try to do electrical repairs yourself.

Please get in touch with us if you have any questions or require further information on our electrical testing programme.
